Introduction to Construction Craft Worker

Dates: Jul 6-Oct 9, 2026 (full-time)

Location: BTAC – 24 Beechville Park Drive, Beechville, NS

Class Size: 12 Participants

Deadline to Apply: June 18 at 3:00pm

 

​​Construction Craft Workers primarily work on construction sites where their tasks include site preparation, cleanup, and working with materials such as concrete, masonry, steel, wood, and pre-cast components. They contribute to a variety of structures, including industrial, commercial, and institutional projects. Construction Craft Workers spend most of their time outdoors regardless of weather conditions, and may be required to work at heights, over water, or in confined spaces and excavations.

 

The Introduction to Construction Craft Worker program combines in-class theory with practical, hands-on training in formwork, concrete work, and other essential construction tasks, providing participants with a strong foundation for entry into the industry.

 

To apply, individuals must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents, and residents of Nova Scotia. Applicants to this program may also qualify for financial supports; please discuss at time of application.

Insulator Pre-Employment Program

Duration: 10 weeks

Dates: Jun 29-Sep 4, 2026 (full-time)

Location: BTAC – 24 Beechville Park Drive, Beechville, NS

Class Size: 12 Participants

Deadline to Apply: June 12 at 3:00pm

 

​​Heat and frost insulators work with different materials to prevent the passage of heat, cold, moisture, vapour, sound, and fire. The structures and systems insulators work on include: plumbing, air handling, heating, cooling, refrigeration, piping and pressure vessels, walls, flooring, and ceilings. Insulators must be prepared to work indoors and outdoors, in shifts, and travel between various locations. They are required to work from heights and in confined spaces.

 

To apply, individuals must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents, and residents of Nova Scotia. Applicants to this program may also qualify for financial supports; please discuss at time of application.

Introduction to Boilermaker

Duration: 9 weeks

Dates: Jul 6-Sep 4, 2026 (full-time)

Location: Boilermakers Local 73, Truro Heights, NS

Class Size: 10 Participants

Deadline to Apply: June 4 at 3:00pm

 

Boilermakers are skilled tradespeople who use hand tools, power tools, and various heavy machinery to cut, shape, form, and weld heavy metal components to fabricate, assemble, maintain, and repair boilers, tanks, and vessels. Boilermakers work in fabrication and manufacturing facilities, construction sites, shipbuilding facilities, electrical generating stations, and oil refineries.

Individuals must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents, and residents of Nova Scotia. Applicants to this program may also qualify for financial supports; please discuss at time of application.
